Rendezvous Southwest members invite you to the 5th annual photographic art exposition in the Historic Percha Bank Gallery. Photographers from across the Western United States have assembled and curated a unique collection of work. The Percha Bank Gallery will host the artists and community at the opening reception. The work is firmly rooted in tradition while encouraging creativity that advances the boundaries of contemporary photography. The work represented includes processes such as cyanotypes, platinum, palladium, lumens, pigment ink, gelatin silver, synthetic collages, hand-applied precious metals, and pigments. The photographs are created with film cameras, large format field cameras, handmade cameras, I-phones, digital cameras or cameraless images.
In 1988 the first Photographer’s Rendezvous was held in the American West under the tutelage of Al Weber, photographer, and educator. Rendezvous Southwest was formed to continue the tradition. Photographers from across the nation gather in Kingston, New Mexico to exchange progressive and educational ideas in traditional, digital, experimental, or alternative processes in order to promote the photographic art community.

For October's First Friday art walk, the Grant County Art Guild Studio will host INTO THE WILD, showcasing the work of local painters Mona Prater and Paula Manning-Lewis. Manning-Lewis will be showing her new collection of Gila trees; Prater will be populating that forest with her most recent body of work-- portraits of Gila wildlife.

Into the Wild will be on display for two weekends. Dates/hours are Oct 3-4 & 10-11, Saturdays 10am-5pm, Sundays 10am-4pm.

Las Cruces Board Gamers meets every Thursday at NMSU Corbett Center on the ground floor, at the windowed room across from Chick Fil e. We usually meet at NMSU though can also go to other areas depending on school schedule. We often favor medium-difficulty games (pandemic is a good example), and often have a wide variety of options for different tastes. Usually not as much "kill your opponent" games. Free and we'll have games so if you don't have one to bring, that's okay, just bring yourself!

OPEN CALL FOR ART: MUSICAL VISIONS

All entries must depict, or be inspired by, music: musical experiences, genres, titles or lyrics, musicians, instruments, sound systems and more! Deadline for entry is Oct 15. Art drop off is Nov 23. Show dates are Nov 27-Dec 6. Show location is the Grant County Art Guild Studio, 307 N Texas, Silver City.

The Gila Native Plant Society is offering free docent-led tours of Silva Creek Botanical Garden every Saturday morning starting at 9 AM, August 15. Tours continue on Saturdays at 9 AM through October 31 (except September 12). All ages are welcome. Enjoy and learn about our beautiful native plant garden at State and Virginia Streets, Silver City. No reservations necessary.

Deep Underground Military Bases will be presented Saturday Sept. 5th at 9am at the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library on East Picacho AVE in the Road Runner Room. The meeting is free & MUFON membership is not required. Enjoy inspiring thought-provoking discussions regarding aerial phenomena and other high strangeness with like-minded individuals.
I am sorry for the earlier than normal start time but there is a scheduling conflict on Oct 3rd and 9am is the only opening at the library.
The Mutual UFO Network, MUFON invites you to a free meeting that is open to the public where you can share your experience or sighting.

 Opinions are welcome, without judgement come out to enjoy the discussion with likeminded individuals who have interest in this ongoing phenomenon.

The Las Cruces Really Really Free Market is back, hosted by a group of local volunteers who believe in mutual aid, community care, and resource sharing.

This isn’t a sale or a swap — it’s a free community event where anyone can give or take items like clothes, books, household goods, toys, and more. There’s no money, no bartering — just people helping each other out.

The Really Really Free Market takes place every first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1701 Missouri Avenue in Las Cruces. The 19th year that the Mimbres Valley Health Action League has organized this community event on the grounds of our local elementary school. The school will be selling their beloved enchilada dinners and the gym will house the Mimbres Health Fair. On the grounds you will find food vendors, live music, artisan and craft vendors, an old fashioned pie contest, a solar cooking demonstration, organized children’s activities, and a Farmers’ Market.
