You're invited to visit a Los Chismosos Toastmasters club meeting, as our guest!

You will learn-by-doing, in a supportive and positive club setting that meets each Thursday on Zoom. The new "Pathways" program from Toastmasters International is designed to provide you with a safe, step-by-step way to learn public speaking skills.

You are free to select a "Pathways" track that most benefits you and aligns with your needs and interests.

When you join Toastmasters, you can stop worrying about your next presentation and get immediate feedback from experienced speakers. You'll discover a positive and supportive group, willing to help you take your first steps toward speaking with confidence.

You will benefit from Toastmasters by learning to:

--Find an immediate connection with your audience;
--Organize your thoughts logically for clarity;
--Energize your speaking with storytelling;
--Find your voice and your unique style to convey your best ideas.

Founded in 1984, Los Chismosos Toastmasters' membership includes faculty, graduate students, and staff at New Mexico State University as well as people in the business community, retirees, and those new to the area.

Born in Newark, New Jersey in 1938 and raised in East Orange, Marietta Patricia Leis’s early memories of her grandmother’s gardens continue to shape her sensitivity to hue and atmosphere. After studying dance and painting in New York and Los Angeles, she moved to New Mexico in 1982 to pursue an MFA at the University of New Mexico. There, she developed a visual language that merged drawing, photography, and constructed forms with an interest in public art, education, and mentorship. Leis has exhibited extensively and her artworks can be found in the permanent collections of institutions around the world, including Haegeumgang Theme Museum in

Las Cruces Board Gamers meets every Thursday at NMSU Corbett Center on the ground floor, at the windowed room across from Chick Fil e. We usually meet at NMSU though can also go to other areas depending on school schedule. We often favor medium-difficulty games (pandemic is a good example), and often have a wide variety of options for different tastes. Usually not as much "kill your opponent" games. Free and we'll have games so if you don't have one to bring, that's okay, just bring yourself!

Sweeping both the Telluride Bluegrass and RockyGrass band competitions in 2023, the Fretliners music leans into the tradition of acoustic string instruments but reaches well beyond genre, resonating with listeners through honesty and craft.

The Levitt AMP Truth or Consequences Music Series continues through October 22, 2026. MainStreet Truth or Consequences, with support from the Levitt Family Foundation, is putting on a concert series featuring a variety of genres of music. Food trucks and vendors will add to the fun and family-friendly experience.

October 2026, at the Deming Art Center will feature the annual DAC Membership exhibit. Anyone who is a member of the Deming Art Center is eligible to participate and there will be a diverse body of work on display. The show will run from October 2-30, 2026. There will be a time to meet the artists on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 1PM – 2:30PM and the public is invited. The center is located at 100 S. Gold St., in Deming, NM and is open from 10AM – 4PM, Mon – Fri, and 10 – 1PM on Saturday. The NMSU Art Museum is pleased to present On the Edge, an exhibition that traces the trajectory of Shirley Crow’s career, exploring an artistic practice grounded in a lasting sense of wonder about the mysteries of the universe. Spanning nearly fifty years, and including pastel, ink, graphite, and oil, Crow’s work invites viewers to experience her intuitive visual language informed by the magic of creativity and an ongoing questioning of our existence. Opening reception for Shirley Crow: On the Edge is on October 16 from 5:30-7:30 pm, and will be on display through July 17, 2027.

New Mexico’s Mutual UFO Network Alamogordo Chapter meets at Otero Arts on 12th & Indian AVE at 11am on the 3rd Saturday of the month. We discuss Flying Saucers and our local aerial phenomenon experiences. Join MUFON for Coffee Cups & Flying Saucers a meeting of like-minded individuals with a common interest in sharing what we see in the skies. This free monthly meeting is open to the public.
