April 2026 at the Deming Art Center will feature the wonderful designs and innovative creations of the Deming High School art students. It is always exciting to see what they have created, and we invite the community to support these young artists by stopping by to see for yourselves. The exhibit will be up from April 2 – 29, 2026. There will be a time to meet these talented student artists on Sunday, April 5, 2026, from 1-2:30PM at the Deming Art Center which is located at 100 S. Gold St., Deming, NM. The gallery hours are 10AM – 4PM Monday – Friday and 10AM – 1PM on Saturday. Celebrate springtime with five local artisans. Suzanne Kane creates desert inspired sculptures blending welded steel with mid-fired stoneware. A.Me and Mitch Alamag (Rokoko) create colorful, whimsical and thoughtful contemporary folk art. Mary Lou LaCasse makes metal and ceramic garden sculptures which are eclectic and include weldable found pieces of metal. Rosemary McLoughlin is primarily an oil painter who incorporates magical figures and animals into her paintings. Join the artists at the First Friday reception, April 3 from 5 to 7 for discussion. refreshments and live music.
New Mexico’s Mutual UFO Network Alamogordo Chapter meets at Otero Arts on 12th & Indian AVE at 11am on the 3rd Saturday of the month. We discuss Flying Saucers and our local aerial phenomenon experiences. Join MUFON for Coffee Cups & Flying Saucers a meeting of like-minded individuals with a common interest in sharing what we see in the skies. This free monthly meeting is open to the public.

Join the Astronomy Department in celebrating International Dark Skies Week! On April 17th, 2026 at 7:00pm in O'Donnell Hall 111, we will join in a webinar titled "Dark Skies: Rare Phenomena in America's Pubilc Lands."
Afterwards, at ~8:00pm, we will then head over to Tombaugh Campus Observatory to have a public Open House! Assisted by NMSU Astronomy Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students. Astronomical viewing is dependent on weather. This event will last no later than 9:30pm.
Due to the construction on Williams Street, to get to Tombaugh, you'll have to use the entrence to Parking Lot 48 on Stewart Street (across from the AHWC). Then drive south through the parking lot to get to Tombaugh.

The City of El Paso Water Parks is diving into hiring season with a Lifeguard Job Fair at Lost Kingdom Water Park on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will focus on recruiting lifeguards, with on-the-spot hiring available for qualified applicants.
Those interested in applying must bring two forms of identification. Applicants under the age of 18 may be hired at the event, while applicants 18 and older will be required to pass a background check before final hire.
All lifeguard applicants should arrive ready to begin the swim test upon arrival. The required Lifeguard Pre-Requisite Swim Test includes:• 200-meter swim• Two-minute tread• Retrieval of a 10-pound brick from 12.5 feet of water
Candidates who successfully pass the swim test and, if applicable, clear the background check, may be hired on the spot. El Paso Water Parks encourages strong swimmers who are responsible, energetic, and ready to make a difference this summer to take advantage of this opportunity.
