You're invited to visit a Los Chismosos Toastmasters club meeting, as our guest!

You will learn-by-doing, in a supportive and positive club setting that meets each Thursday on Zoom. The new "Pathways" program from Toastmasters International is designed to provide you with a safe, step-by-step way to learn public speaking skills.

You are free to select a "Pathways" track that most benefits you and aligns with your needs and interests.

When you join Toastmasters, you can stop worrying about your next presentation and get immediate feedback from experienced speakers. You'll discover a positive and supportive group, willing to help you take your first steps toward speaking with confidence.

You will benefit from Toastmasters by learning to:

--Find an immediate connection with your audience;
--Organize your thoughts logically for clarity;
--Energize your speaking with storytelling;
--Find your voice and your unique style to convey your best ideas.

Founded in 1984, Los Chismosos Toastmasters' membership includes faculty, graduate students, and staff at New Mexico State University as well as people in the business community, retirees, and those new to the area.

For 34 years, the Potters' Guild of Las Cruces has partnered with El Caldito Soup Kitchen to turn art into action.

Grab a unique handcrafted bowl made by our local potters' guild and taste a variety of incredible soups from over 50 different local restaurants.

Each handcrafted bowl serves as a reminder that no one in our community should face an empty bowl. Join us in making a difference!

The Gila Native Plant Society is offering free docent-led tours of Silva Creek Botanical Garden every Saturday morning starting at 9 AM, August 15. Tours continue on Saturdays at 9 AM through October 31 (except September 12). All ages are welcome. Enjoy and learn about our beautiful native plant garden at State and Virginia Streets, Silver City. No reservations necessary.

The Fall Fiber Arts Sale is a 2 day event offering a wide array of fiber arts for sale by members of the nonprofit SW Women's Fiber Arts Collective. Items are unique, one a kind garments, handweaving, knits, dyed silks, pine needle baskets, upcycled garments, and much more! Weaving for Justice, a Las Cruces nonprofit will also be featured offering many items from the Chiapas area. A great way to make your holiday shopping count by purchasing a unique item and supporting local artisans!

Join us for our monthly volunteer gatherings, held on the second Tuesday of every month from 9:30AM - 10:30AM at the Asombro Institute for Science Education office at 401 E. College Drive, Las Cruces. This is a great opportunity to meet other volunteers who have worked in the education and STEM realms, have shared interest in promoting science among K-12 students in our local schools, and have a passion for contributing to the great community we live in! We work on a variety of tasks such as prepping materials for Asombro's education programs, compiling kits for teacher workshops, assembling items for classroom science experiments, and whatever else is needed to increase natural science literacy through engaging place-based education!

LCAER is an organization who welcomes any and all people and their families who have worked in any capacity in education, from pre-school to university. We are advocates for the security of retired educators. We sponsor yearly projects to benefit the community, especially students. Our yearly dues are only 10 dollars. Those who are still working can become an associate member and enjoy all the activies we are in volved in. We meet once a month on the second Tuesday of the month. Come join us.
