The NMSU Art Museum is pleased to present On the Edge, an exhibition that traces the trajectory of Shirley Crow’s career, exploring an artistic practice grounded in a lasting sense of wonder about the mysteries of the universe. Spanning nearly fifty years, and including pastel, ink, graphite, and oil, Crow’s work invites viewers to experience her intuitive visual language informed by the magic of creativity and an ongoing questioning of our existence. Opening reception for Shirley Crow: On the Edge is on October 16 from 5:30-7:30 pm, and will be on display through July 17, 2027.

October 2026, at the Deming Art Center will feature the annual DAC Membership exhibit. Anyone who is a member of the Deming Art Center is eligible to participate and there will be a diverse body of work on display. The show will run from October 2-30, 2026. There will be a time to meet the artists on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 1PM – 2:30PM and the public is invited. The center is located at 100 S. Gold St., in Deming, NM and is open from 10AM – 4PM, Mon – Fri, and 10 – 1PM on Saturday. The NMSU Art Museum proudly presents Marietta Patricia Leis: Breathing Lessons, a major career retrospective by renowned New Mexico-based artist Marietta Leis. The exhibition reflects Leis’s exploration of color, time, movement, and place across a diverse range of media, including: video, painting, photography, sculpture, poetry, and sound. Opening reception for Marietta Patricia Leis: Breathing Lessons is on October 16 from 5:30-7:30 pm, and will be on display through March 6, 2027.

The NMSU Art Museum proudly presents Lean In, an exhibition presenting works by three New Mexico-based artists who have been influenced and mentored by artist Marietta Patricia Leis during her nearly 50-year career as an interdisciplinary artist.

Lean In, featuring works by Dorielle Caimi, Veronica Primerano and Stefan Jennings Batista, demonstrates that a successful artistic practice extends beyond the objects produced in the studio; it is also built through relationships, discipline, and the transmission of knowledge. The artists featured in this exhibition explore diverse concepts related to mysticism, resilience, and color theory, but all three have benefited from exposure to Leis’ ongoing dedication to a successful studio practice. Lean In is on display in the museum’s Mullennix Bridge Gallery from October 16, 2026 through March 6, 2027.

We discuss Flying Saucers and our local aerial phenomenon experiences. Join MUFON for Coffee Cups & Flying Saucers a meeting of like-minded individuals with a common interest in sharing what we see in the skies. This free monthly meeting is open to the public.

The Artists of Picacho Hills are proud to present their annual art show, "The Fall Festival of Art". Featuring 16 juried, local artists, the event will be held on Saturday, October 17th form 9 am to 4 pm at the St Paul's Methodist Church, 255 W. Griggs Ave. in downtown Las Cruces. The art shown includes, paintings (oil, acrylic and watercolor), pottery, ceramics, jewelry, mixed media sculpture, photography, gourd art and bead weaving. Prices range from lows of $5 to $35 and into the hundreds for unique art perfect for the upcoming holidays. The event is free to the public. Children and pets are welcome.
