We meet monthly to learn about topics of interest to the group and to learn about the most recent legislation which concerns retirees in New Mexico.

Al-Anon is for family and friends who have been affected by another's drinking or drug addiction.

Drawing from the University Art Museum's extensive collection of over 2,200 Mexican retablos, Trinities of Heaven and Earth explores the spiritual and cultural importance of these sacred images. Retablos, small devotional paintings traditionally displayed in Mexican homes, served as vital expressions of Catholic faith and values within the household. The imagery of the Holy Family conveys blessings related to family life, while depictions of the Holy Trinity invoke divine guidance. Together, these themes explore the connection between sacred devotion and earthly life, bridging the divine and the domestic.

The exhibition will open on March 21, 2025, at 5:30 pm in the Margie and Bobby Rankin Retablo Gallery, and will be open until March 7, 2026.

Fascinated by all the birds around your home and want to learn a bit more about them? Here is the class for you. Mesilla Valley Audubon Society (MVAS) will present a class on Birding Basics this September on the first three Tuesday evenings of the month, September 2, 9, and 16, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Las Cruces Village, 3011 Buena Vida Circle, Las Cruces, in the Social Center’s Creative Arts Room. The class is intended for those with little or no experience birding.Two optional field trips will be arranged during the class for participants. RSVP to mesillavalleyaudubon@gmail.com.

Fort Selden Historic Site offers weekly ranger-guided walking tours. Participants will explore 1400 years of history beginning with the Mogollon, foragers turned farmers, who lived on this land as early as 400 A.D. to the Spanish in the late 1500s to the American military in the mid-1800s. The tour is included as part of general admission of $5 per adult. Children 16 years old and younger are free. NM residents over the age of 60 are free on Wednesdays.

September 2025 at the Deming Art Center will feature an exhibit of fiber arts, that could include paper, wood, leather, fiber clay and small fabric items (no quilts). There is a talented group of Fiber Artists in the area and we look forward to what they will bring to this exhibit.

Join us for the Mesilla Valley Timebank Orientation to learn how you can exchange services and build connections in our community using time instead of money. Earn time credits by offering your skills and use those credits to receive services in return. Whether you need help or can offer it, the Timebank is a great way to get involved!
