Valentine’s Day is over, but you can still share the love this weekend with the Scaffolding Theatre Company’s latest production, a five-course meal and theatrical romp called "Five Course Love." The musical by Gregg Coffin requires three actors to perform five characters each, taking the audience into five different restaurant settings, eras, and stories.
“They are five little mini-love stories in very, very different styles, both acting-wise and culturally; so there’s lots of accents, and really diverse music,” said Scaffolding Theatre member and founder Megan McQueen, in an interview with Intermezzo host Leora Zeitlin in the KRWG studios. “It’s ridiculously funny with Algernon [D’Ammassa] and Brandon [Brown] performing it. It’s a lot of fun.”
McQueen joins D’Ammassa and Brown in the musical, along with musicians Mark Klett, James Gier, and Derrick Lee (who is also a jazz host at KRWG). A multi-course dinner will be served at the evening performances, prepared by Roanna St. Clair and students and graduates of the culinary program at Alma d’Arte Charter High School. Performances take place at the Alma d’Arte auditorium on Friday and Saturday evenings (dinner included) at 7 p.m. and a matinee (sans food) at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
