Drawing from the University Art Museum's extensive collection of over 2,200 Mexican retablos, Trinities of Heaven and Earth explores the spiritual and cultural importance of these sacred images. Retablos, small devotional paintings traditionally displayed in Mexican homes, served as vital expressions of Catholic faith and values within the household. The imagery of the Holy Family conveys blessings related to family life, while depictions of the Holy Trinity invoke divine guidance. Together, these themes explore the connection between sacred devotion and earthly life, bridging the divine and the domestic.

The exhibition will open on March 21, 2025, at 5:30 pm in the Margie and Bobby Rankin Retablo Gallery, and will be open until March 7, 2026.

The Las Cruces Really Really Free Market is back, hosted by a group of local volunteers who believe in mutual aid, community care, and resource sharing.

This isn’t a sale or a swap — it’s a free community event where anyone can give or take items like clothes, books, household goods, toys, and more. There’s no money, no bartering — just people helping each other out.

Join us the first Saturday of every month from 10am - 2pm at 1701 Missouri Ave (Peace Lutheran Church).

We do this because we believe our community already has enough — enough resources, enough support — if we just find ways to share it.

The Really Really Free Market takes place every first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1701 Missouri Avenue in Las Cruces. It’s a community gathering built on solidarity, not charity — where everything is free. Bring what you can, take what you need, or just come hang out. There’s no buying, selling, or trading — just neighbors supporting neighbors. Along with free clothes, furniture, books, toys, and supplies, we also offer free bike repairs and so much more! “Mixed Media Assemblage Art & Photography” is the title of the January, 2026, Exhibit at Deming Art Center. It will feature the artwork of Vickie Voiers Morrow and Diane Alire. Vickie is a former Deming resident who specializes in assemblage art, bringing pieces that will be reminiscent of her life in Deming and also her Guardian Angel pieces among other things. Diane Alire, a photographer and print maker, has lived in New Mexico since 2001 and has her own Gallery, Gallery 925, in Las Cruces. She has a Masters in Photography and has taught Photography and Print Making in Albuquerque and Las Cruces. Diane is attracted to the more gritty subjects for her photography – juxtaposing images in a way to provoke and leave interpretation to the viewer. Her latest works are black and white photographs which are then hand colored with transparent oils, pan pastels and colored pencils.

The exhibit will be on display from January 3-30, 2026. There will be a time to meet the artists on Sunday, January 4, from 1-2:30PM.

The Deming Art Center is located at 100 S. Gold, Deming NM, and is open from 10AM-4PM Monday – Friday and 10AM – 1PM on Saturday.

The Epiphany: Día de Los Reyes is an exhibit sharing the creches (nacimientos) from the collection of Faith Hutson and John Verploegh and includes ones from their world journeys. Part of the fascination for collecting nativities from around the world lies in how various artists of different cultures place the Incarnation within their own time and place. Rather than recreate a historical depiction of the birth of Jesus, artists often choose to bring Jesus’ Nativity into their own present time and era.

This Open House Nativity event will be held at 706 South Mesquite St., Las Cruces.

A suggested $5.00 donation per person will help increase the fund for public art in the Mesquite Original Townsite Historic District.

Cafe de olla, hot chocolate and Rosca de Reyes will be served.
