Borderland Art

April 19, 2013 – Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, Emily Guerra bridges the community with Borderland artist, Kim Shifflett. Her art will be featured at the Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces through April 27th. She describes her art as dealing more with migratory and economic issues rather than traditional border art.

Shifflett grew up in Las Cruces, lived a few years in Tucson, Arizona, moved to Lexington, Kentucky and finally to Cincinnati, Ohio. She started a fiber design business in Ohio and pursued her art education, earning a BFA degree from the Art Academy of Cincinnati and a MFA degree in painting from the University of Cincinnati. As the owner and operator of ArtSet, LLC, an art and design studio in Cincinnati, Shifflett creates art installations, outdoor murals, prints and paintings.

Visit the Branigan Cultural Center at 501 N. Main Street to view Shifflett’s art or visit her website at www.kimshifflett.artspan.com. Details available at 541-2154.
