Join staff at Fort Selden Historic Site for a rescheduled program, firing up the horno, or outdoor adobe oven, and cooking pizza. Did you know that an adobe horno can get up to around 900 degrees!? With that kind of temperature, a pizza cooks in just a couple of minutes. Staff encourage participants to bring their own pizza to cook. Visitors can bring ingredients and make their own fresh pizza or bring a favorite frozen pizza. This will be the perfect opportunity to learn more about horno cooking and how versatile these ovens are. Staff and volunteers will be on site to assist visitors in cooking their pizza and will answer questions people may have regarding horno cooking and cooking pizza. This is a family-friendly event, so all ages are welcome. Note: Firing the horno is subject to weather and fire restrictions. This program is included as part of general admission of $5 per adult. Children 16 years old and younger are free. NM Disabled Veterans are free.
