Drought Resiliency Efforts of the Rio Grande Valley
Do you have any ideas for strategies and projects to protect groundwater aquifers and mitigate flooding in the southern New Mexico Rio Grande Valley? Join us and share them!
The Bureau of Reclamation, State of New Mexico, Elephant Butte Irrigation District, and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation have undertaken an initiative called the Drought Resilience Efforts (DRE). The partners are planning to implement projects with the following goals:
-Reduce damage from flooding and sedimentation
-Promote aquifer recharge through stormwater management
-Create and/or sustain habitat and promote watershed health (every project must address this goal)
