Roswell Man held without bond In Las Cruces shooting

Raul Castillo-Hernandez

Raul Castillo-Hernandez, 25, of Roswell, NM was held without Bond in Third District Court of Doña Ana County.   Castillo-Hernandez is charged 3 counts Aggravated Assault (deadly weapon), 1 count of Aggravated Battery (deadly weapon).  A District Court Judge found Castillo-Hernandez to be Dangerous, and that no Release Conditions will reasonably protect the safety of the community.  Castillo-Hernandez will remain in the Doña Ana County Detention Center.

Las Cruces Police officers were dispatched to an incident where two vehicles were involved in a high-speed chase with one gray Chevy Camaro chasing a red vehicle with 3 occupants. Officers learned that the victims upon leaving the parking lot of an Auto Parts Store were followed by a gray Camaro.  The Camaro started to “mad-dog” driving erratically, chasing the red vehicle, the Camaro then fired 8-9 shots at the vehicle, striking the red vehicle and the driver in the arm.     Raul Castillo-Hernandez was arrested after video showed him to be the driver of the Camaro in the high-speed chase.
