A Big Change For The Silco Theatre In Silver City

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenge for many businesses, and none more so than entertainment venues like the Silco Theatre.

Operators Bob Grunstein and Joe Navan worked valiantly to keep the theater in the public’s eye during the shutdown, by keeping the concession open and recently by offering showings of classic and popular films. Sadly, after much discussion, it became apparent to all parties that it was not going to be economically feasible for Bob and Joe to operate the Silco.

Silver City MainStreet who serves as landlord for the Town owned theater, want to thank Bob and Joe for everything they have done for the Silco and for their commitment to continue to contribute to the success of the theater as involved community members.

There is good news, however, because the Town of Silver City is still dedicated to utilizing the theater for not only movies but as a community resource for cultural experiences. We are excited by what may be possible in the Silco’s future. Stay tuned!

The mission of Silver City MainStreet is "To encourage a vibrant, historic downtown Silver City that is recognized as the heart of our diverse community." Please visit our website, www.silvercitymainstreet.com to learn more.
