Cibola County, NM – On June 22, 2021, at approximately 7:37 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a one vehicle fatal rollover crash on State Road 605, near mile post 4, north of Milan, NM.
The initial investigation indicates a 2019 Mack Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), driven by Garrett T. Buckner (26) from Chanute, KS was traveling south on NM State Road 605. For reasons unknown, the CMV left the roadway an rolled. The driver, Buckner sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator. A passenger in the CMV, a 45-year-old-male who was in the sleeper berth at the time of the crash sustained unknown injuries. He was transported by emergency personnel to an area hospital in Grants, NM.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and seatbelts were only properly utilized by the driver. This crash is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
