Learn to Fly with Frost Aviation in Las Cruces

Frost Aviation Services is a privately owned flight training school operated by Chris and Denise Frost. Located at the Las Cruces International Airport in the Las Cruces Innovation and Industrial Park, they are open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“It’s our passion to provide training for all pilot ratings – private, instrument rating, commercial rating, multi-engine. Plus, we train the trainers if you want to become a Certified Flight Instructor or an Airline Transport Pilot,” said Denise Frost. “Our goal is to help beginning flyers and even advanced pilots with their aviation goals.

Frost Aviation strives to stretch their student's training dollar; an introductory flight is only $90.00 plus tax. “It allows students to experience flying with a flight instructor and see if you want to pursue your pilot certificate,” she said.

Frost Aviation has four airplanes for flight training – three, single-engine airplanes, the Piper PA-28-181 Archer II, and one twin-engine airplane, the Piper PA-23-250 Aztec.

“We have students from all over the United States who come to our Flight School for training,” Frost said. “They appreciate the maintenance we give our planes and the care our flight instructors take in teaching our students and pilots.”

Frost is also a provider for the Foreign Student Pilot Programs called the Alien Flight Student Program (AFSP) through the Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration (TSA). More information can be found on frostaviation.com, including the pictures from a flying tradition, the shirt cut.

“When a student completes their first solo flight, we cut a portion of the back off,” said Frost. “In the past, an instructor would sit behind a student, and due to the noise in early planes, they’d grab the student’s shirt to get their attention. Taking it off means that they’ve earned our confidence to fly and it is a fun way to celebrate their achievement.”
