Las Cruces photographer John Craig has released his latest photographic portfolio; Organ Mountain ATMOS. The eight image collection can be found at www.JohnCraigPhotography.com/atmos and includes color images the represents Mr. Craig’s experience in the southern New Mexico Mountain Range.
“My work tries to capture glimpses of places and experiences that remain in my memory long after I have departed the location,” said Mr. Craig. “I use a technique call Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) photography to create painterly images where lines, colors and time blend together.”
The project began soon after Mr. Craig moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in October 2018 and continues today. “After watching the ever changing light and atmospheric conditions on the mountains, I noticed there were times when the sky overtook and blended with the mountain peaks. The long exposures combined with the movement of the camera created results that were sometimes calming, sometimes mysterious and sometimes terrifying.”
While writing about one of Craig’s earlier ICM works, artist/writer Mauro Altamura wrote: “with a sense of the complete passage of time, this too, is a visual equivalent. It's a lifetime passing before our eyes.
