The Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office welcomes challengers as important aspects of the electoral process in our county. Still, each appointed challenger must abide by state law and procedure during the course of their work. The individuals in this case were removed for lack of compliance, and new challengers from the same party were appointed and permitted access to the process shortly after.
"We have repeatedly clarified with political parties the roles of challengers and continue to provide challengers access at all our voting locations and at the absent voter precinct board in accordance with law," said Chief Deputy Clerk Lindsey Bachman. “Every voter, regardless of party or perspective, should have access to a secure and fair election free from intimidation or disruption.”
