Torres Small Announces Self Quarantine Out of an Abundance of Caution

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small (NM-02) is self-quarantining for 14 days following contact with an individual who was at the time asymptomatic, but later tested positive for COVID-19.  Here is a statement from her office:

Congresswoman Torres Small is exhibiting no symptoms, and as such she has not received testing for COVID-19. Since last Sunday, the congresswoman has been self-isolating in accordance with New Mexico directives relating to travel outside of the state.

“I was recently in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Although I’m not exhibiting any symptoms, the House Attending Physician out of an abundance of caution has advised me to self-quarantine. During this time, my top priority will remain ensuring my constituents have the information and resources they need to stay safe and healthy, which is why I will be teleworking from my home and staying in constant contact with local, state, and federal officials as we confront this public health emergency together,” said Torres Small.

Congresswoman Torres Small will host a COVID-19 Telephone Town Hall on Sunday, March 22, at 6:00 PM MT featuring public health experts, state officials, and small business/unemployment advisors. Attendees may sign up for the telephone town hall on Sunday by using the following link.
