Las Cruces police are continuing to investigate the early Sunday morning shooting on Arizona Avenue that injured a 16-year-old boy and 23-year-old man.
About 3 a.m. Sunday, July 29, police were dispatched to reports of shots fired on the 1600 block of Arizona Avenue. Officers arrived to find a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and a 23-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head.
The boy was transported to University Medical Center of El Paso while the man was taken to Mountainview Regional Medical Center. Both remain hospitalized on Monday.
Investigators determined that a large party was held at the home and some type of altercation between attendees erupted into an affray. Shots were fired and the two victims were struck.
LCPD investigators have interviewed dozens of individuals but have not yet filed charges or made any arrests. Investigators have also reviewed video of part of the incident that was captured by partygoers.
