Goldbaum Announces Candidacy For Las Cruces Municipal Judge

Joy Goldbaum has announced her candidacy for Las Cruces Municipal Judge.

In a release, her campaign said "Goldbaum has practiced law in New Mexico for 26 years—23 of them in Las Cruces. As a former Public Defender and prosecutor, she has worked on both sides of the criminal law, and has litigated many cases in the Municipal Court.  Goldbaum served as a domestic violence tribunal for two-and-a-half years in the Third Judicial District Court. Prior to that, she was a Special Assistant Attorney General for 15 years in the Human Services Department. Goldbaum hopes to earn the support of voters for the Municipal Judge position in the November 2017 election."

“I'm dedicated to ensuring justice for all parties who appear in Municipal Court,” said Goldbaum, a graduate of Georgetown University Law School. “I've always treated defendants, opposing parties, and staff with the dignity and respect that everyone deserves. I believe everybody is equal before the law, regardless of wealth or status. I want people who appear before me to know that I will listen to them and that I care about them.”

Judicial candidates will be on the ballot with the City Council candidates in the upcoming November municipal election. All voters living within the city limits can vote for judicial candidates, regardless of the City Council District in which they reside. All city races are non-partisan.
