Angela Throneberry, New Mexico State University’s senior vice president for administration and finance, has announced her retirement, effective Aug. 1, 2017. Throneberry is an NMSU graduate and has worked for the university for the past 25 years.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunities afforded to me to work in numerous challenging administrative positions over many years,” Throneberry said. “I am hopeful I have been a positive contributor to this premier institution for which I hold such great pride. Working with the outstanding and dedicated executive management, staff, faculty and students has been especially rewarding.”
Throneberry began her career with NMSU in 1991 in the Financial Reporting Office. During her time at the university, she has worked as assistant athletics director for business, director of financial operations, director of auxiliary business services, assistant vice president for auxiliary services, and associate vice president for administration and finance. Before joining NMSU, She worked in public accounting as an auditor for both KPMG Peat Marwick and Arthur Andersen. She is a certified public accountant and graduate of the NMSU College of Business, earning her bachelor’s in accounting.
“Angela Throneberry is a very special Aggie,” NMSU Chancellor Garrey Carruthers said. “She is bright, hardworking, highly principled, experienced, and a great team member. NMSU will miss her fantastic work, institutional knowledge and history, and her subtle sense of humor. The recent Moody’s report indicating no downgrade is testimony to her skills and commitment to financial management at NMSU. Best wishes in retirement. You deserve it, but we will miss you.”
A search for Throneberry’s replacement began this month. The university plans to have a new senior vice president for administration and finance in place by the time Throneberry steps down next summer.
