  • Museums and Cultural Center: The city of Las Cruces Museum System consists of the Branigan Cultural Center, the Las Cruces Museum of Art, the Las Cruces Museum of Nature & science and the Las Cruces Railroad Museum Free Admission
  • Branigan Cultural Center

o   Las Cruces Museum System: Branigan Cultural Center, Museum of Art, Museum of Nature and Science and the Railroad Museum will have free admission Aug. 22 to Aug. 28.

o   Saturday, Aug. 27 at 10:30 a.m. “Vamos a Explorar” program. This bilingual program enables families to enter the world of art to make connections between pieces of art and life of the artists who made them and understand how different cultures express beliefs and thoughts through art.

·         Museum of Art

o   The las Cruces Museum of Art hosts changing contemporary art exhibits, including national, international, juried, traveling and invitational exhibits. The museum runs an extensive art studio class program for all ages.

o   Contemporary Japanese Ceramics from the Gordon Brodfuehrer Collection.” An engaging interdisciplinary look at contemporary Japanese Ceramics paired with nature photographs. Continues through Oct. 15, 2016.

o   Saturday, Aug. 27 at noon - Japanese Traditional/Folk Dancing Group.

o   Saturday, Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. Family Science Saturday presents Mechanical Toys, “Jitterbugs.”

o   Saturday, Aug. 27 at 11 a.m. presents “SNAP” - merging artistic creativity with Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics – “Making Mosiacs”

o   Saturday, Aug. 27 at 11:30 a.m. Animal Encounters – “Invertebrates & Arthropods.”

o   Thursday Aug. 25 at 9 a.m. Pre-K Program for kids ages 3-5. Nature Kids presents Frog & Toad to discover the difference between the two.

o   Thursday, Aug. 25 at 5:30 p.m. “Science Cafe” lecture.

o   Teen Game Night – Every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m. for ages 12-18.

o   Toddler Time –Wednesday & Thursday at 10 a.m. Story time for ages 3 and up.

o   Read to me-Every Tuesday at 10:30 am story time for ages 1-3.

o   Mother Goose Time – Every Wednesday at 11 a.m. Activities for infants & their adults. Located in the children’s Kiva.

o   Rhythm Round-Up – Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Music & motion for ages 6-10.

o   Movie Maker Monday – Monday at 1 p.m. for young adults ages 12-18.

o   Library Lab – Fridays at 3:30 p.m. in the children’s crafts room.

o   Branigan Book Club – 3rd Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the staff conference room.

o   Aug. 26 thru Sept. 11 - “Outside Mullingar” by John Patrick Shanley, directed by Ceil Herman. Friday, Aug. 26 & Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. A softhearted comedy freckled with dark reflections on the unsatisfactory nature of life and the thorns of love.
