Commentary: Congressman Steve Pearce issued the following statement after the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) announced its controversial methane regulations yesterday:
“Reliable, abundant, and affordable energy keeps the lights on in New Mexico and puts food on the table for many New Mexican families. This regulation will cost good paying jobs in New Mexico, as well as drive up electricity and gasoline prices by making them more expensive to produce. America’s energy industry has made enormous strides to reduce methane emissions, yet the President continues to push his climate legacy at the expense of the American people. Increased energy production in America strengthens our national security, while making energy prices more affordable for hardworking New Mexicans and Americans nationwide. We should do all that we can to foster this American energy renaissance, not kill it with unnecessary regulations,” said Congressman Pearce.
