Las Cruces Car Wash Worker Indicted In Shooting Death Of Customer

A Las Cruces car wash worker has been indicted in connection with the shooting death of a customer.

The New Mexico Third Judicial District Attorney's office said Friday a grand jury indicted 57-year-old Leo Molina on first-degree murder and kidnapping.

Las Cruces police say Molina got into an argument with 59-year-old Gregory Cleto Fernandez at the car wash on Oct. 21.

Officers dispatched to the scene found Fernandez with at least one gunshot wound to his chest.

He was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to a hospital.

Investigators say Molina was the attendant on duty and remained at the scene along with the handgun they believed was used in the shooting.

If convicted, Molina faces up to 48 years in prison.
