HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The 49th Wing is currently hosting an aerial exercise involving a number of aircraft. The exercise, which is taking place in airspace over portions of White Sands Missile Range, Fort Bliss and Holloman, will continue until March 26.
"With an exercise of this scope, we realize there will be some impact to the communities in Otero, Lincoln and Dona Ana counties, said Capt. Bryant Davis, 49th Wing Public Affairs officer. "We hope to provide everyone with as much advanced notice as possible in order to eliminate any questions about aircraft or operations that might concern our neighbors in the surrounding communities."
During the exercise, residents could experience increased low flying aircraft and possible night flights.
"In addition to low flying aircraft, residents could also experience military personnel driving slowly though local areas during the day," Davis said. "This is all part of the exercise and should not alarm anyone. However, should someone see something they feel is questionable they should contact the 49th Wing Public Affairs office at 575-572-5406 or 575-572-7383 during regular business hours, or 575-572-7575 after hours."
