A New Mexico teen says panic is what led him to fumble a performance of the national anthem at this year's Zozobra.
Fifteen-year-old Adan Gallegos says he wasn't trying to be funny when he forgot some of the words to the "Star-Spangled Banner" and instead said "blah, blah, blah."
The New Mexico School for the Arts student's rendition at the burning of Old Man Gloom on Aug. 29 received jeers from the crowd of more than 30,000 people as well as online criticism.
The teen, who has performed the anthem numerous times at other events, says he is offering an apology to anyone who was offended.
Gallegos says he plans to keep singing and volunteering with Zozobra organizers.
