Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man suspected of walking into a north valley convenience store with an air rifle.
Deputies responded to the call on the 2600 block of Doña Ana Road just before 5 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses say Luis Flores, 23, walked into the store and told the clerk he was robbing her. Flores reportedly fled the scene with some cash and a bottle of liquor.
With the assistance of the Las Cruces Police Department and New Mexico State Police, Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies were able to quickly secure a perimeter, which led them to a house in the 300 block of Waring. Flores was located hiding behind a bed in the house.
Deputies arrested Flores, who now faces charges of breaking and entering and armed robbery, both felonies. He remains at the Doña Ana County Detention Center on a $50,000 surety bond.
