ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Medical investigators have determined that ultra-marathon runner Micah True died of natural causes while on a routine run in late March in the mountains of southwestern New Mexico.

The Office of the Medical Investigator released the autopsy report on Tuesday. It points specifically to cardiomyopathy, or heart disease.

The report says there was some enlargement of True's heart and that likely resulted in an irregular heartbeat during exertion. True was 58.

True's body was discovered March 31 along a mountain stream in a remote part of the Gila Wilderness. The search for him began days earlier after he failed to return from a routine 12-mile run.

Friends theorized that he stopped at the stream to wash up after a fall while running through the rugged terrain.
