Las Cruces – For the seventh consecutive year, the City of Las Cruces Finance Department has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the City's 2010 fiscal year budget.
According to the GFOA, the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award reflects the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
In order to receive the award, the City of Las Cruces had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation that consists of 14 mandatory criteria in four categories.
In addition, the City of Las Cruces pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting, and serves as an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,400 government finance professionals.
