Las Cruces – The New Mexico State University baseball team has its "hitter" mannequin back.
The school said a maintenance worker found the missing mannequin in a shrubbery planter near the NMSU business complex on the other side of the campus from the NMSU baseball practice field.
But the mannequin, modeled after a baseball player holding a bat and standing at home plate, was missing his New York Yankees uniform.
The equipment is paired with a "catcher" mannequin that was not taken and is used for pitching practice.
The hitter mannequin is valued at approximately $4,000. However, because the pitching practice mannequins are only sold in pairs, the NMSU baseball team would have been forced to replace both pieces of equipment at a cost of $16,000.
No arrests have been made.
