Las Cruces – Fire Behavior: The fire has moved slowly from Organ Peak to the east downhill along the ridge with the help of strong winds. Isolated torching continues to occur. Flame lengths were averaging one to two feet. Most of the active fire was on the northeastern edges of the fire. The fire is in an extremely rough and rocky area with limited access.
Suppression Actions: Crews completed efforts in Soledad Canyon. They completed fire line to prevent fire from moving farther west. Plans for tomorrow include holding control lines on the west side of the fire and monitoring fire movement around Organ Peak. No crews are working near Organ Peak due to steep rugged terrain.
Resources: 1 - type 3 helicopter, 3 - type 1 hand crews, 2 - type 2 hand crews, 3 - engines, and various overhead for a total of 150 personnel.
Structures Threatened: No structures are threatened
Closures: Dripping Springs Natural Area (DSNA), Bar Canyon Trail, and Soledad Canyon Trail are closed to the Public.
Advisory: Visitors to Aguirre Springs need to be prepared to leave if asked to do so.
