KRWG News – SANTA ROSA, N.M. (KRWG) A new acute care hospital and medical center is set to open this week in Santa Rosa.
U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman and other officials will gather Thursday in the eastern New Mexico community to dedicate the Guadalupe County Hospital.
The hospital was funded with a $9.4 million loan through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The hospital will provide health care to the 5,000 residents of Guadalupe County and the surrounding area.
It will also provide emergency medical services to those traveling along Interstate 40. State officials say more than 30,000 vehicles travel through Guadalupe County along the interstate each day.
The hospital is one of two that provides emergency services along the 290 mile stretch of interstate between Albuquerque and Amarillo, Texas.
