Deming – A former chief for the Florida Mountain Volunteer Fire Department in southern New Mexico is under arrest.
Luna County sheriff's investigator Bobby Brookhouser says 43-year-old Tony Anderson was arrested last week in Bernice, La., where he moved last November.
Anderson is charged with one count of embezzling more than $2,500 and less than $20,000.
The charges came after a December inventory discovered items were missing from the volunteer fire department.
Brookhouser says the missing items included a mobile radio, a light bar, two hand-held radios and three medical trauma bags.
He says a warrant was issued last week.
Anderson awaits extradition from Louisiana.
