New Mexico – The New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration is making more than $1 million available to help low-income residents whose homes were damaged during freezing temperatures and a natural gas outage earlier this month.
The funding will be available through a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant program.
Gov. Susana Martinez says it's important that all New Mexicans have the resources to make necessary repairs.
Eligible participants can fund emergency repairs up to $2,000 for problems such as broken pipes, repairs to water heaters and furnaces and water damage to walls.
Homeowners who have insurance and can file claims with their insurers are not eligible for the financial assistance.
Regional planning districts around the state will accept applications through March 18.
