New Mexico – Gov. Bill Richardson says three of his cabinet-level department leaders are leaving their jobs next month.
The governor's office said Friday that Education Secretary Vernonia Garcia is retiring. She will be replaced by Susanna Murphy, a faculty member at the University of New Mexico's College of Education.
Garcia is becoming an executive with the Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network Inc.
Children, Youth and Families Secretary Dorian Dodson is retiring to deal with family health matters. The governor will name a replacement later.
Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Secretary Jon Goldstein is stepping down to attend a master's degree program at Princeton University.
Deputy secretary Jim Noel will succeed Goldstein.
Richardson's term runs through the end of the year.
