Empty Bowls Fundraiser will be Soupless due to Covid-19

Las Cruces, NM – On this edition of PUENTES a la comunidad, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra spoke with El Caldito Soup Kitchen Volunteer, Terry Frank, about this year’s soup-less Empty Bowls Fundraiser and Silent Auction co-sponsored with the Potter’s Guild of Las Cruces and Mesilla Valley Estates.

Due to Covid-19, soup will not be sold this year so as not to burden local restaurants already dealing with closures and limitations.  Bowls will still be for sale on Friday, October 16th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 225 W. Griggs Avenue, Las Cruces. The annual Silent Auction will be held online on Mesilla Valley Estates’ website “mvestatesales.com” from midnight October 14th -midnight October 21st with 40 items available for bidding. Tickets for a bowl may be purchased at the gate on the day of the event or in advance at Save Mart (495 N. Valley) or El Caldito Soup Kitchen, 999 W. Amador, (575-525-3831) or the Potter’s Guild. Information available at “pottersguildlc.org,” and on facebook.com/emptybowlslc. Guests are asked to please wear a mask and gloves for the event.
