2019 El Paso Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD) Educational Symposium
Las Cruces, NM – On this edition of PUENTES a la comunidad, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra met with CEO and Founder of the El Paso Crohn’s & Autoimmune Disease Support Group, Carrie Wilkie-Sambrano. She says the City of El Paso has named March "El Paso Crohn's & Autoimmune Disease Month." The group will be hosting the 2019 El Paso IBD (Irritable Bowel Disease) Educational Symposium Saturday, March 9th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center-Medical Education Building, 5001 El Paso Drive, Auditorium 1100, El Paso, TX 79905. According to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) approximately 1.6 million Americans currently have IBD. These diseases don't only affect adults, there are as many as 80,000 children in the U.S.with IBD.
Several medical experts will be presenting talks about Irritable Bowel Diseases such as Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis, Celiac Disease, as well as other autoimmune diseases. Participants will also learn about “The Use of Essential Oils for Emotional Support and well-being with IBD;” “Chronic Illness & How it Effects Your Dental Health;” “The Power of food: How to Use Food to Treat Symptoms & Know Which Nutrition Therapy to Approach;” and “Plants used in Traditional Mexican Medicine for Gastrointestinal Problems.”
