La Casa, Inc. - Domestic violence is a crime even when committed by someone you love.

Las Cruces, NM – On this edition of PUENTES a la comunidad, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra met with La Casa, Inc. Support Services Director, Pat Acosta, to tell us about Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. La Casa, Inc. is a nonprofit organization specializing in domestic violence emergency shelter relief and services to help families living with all forms of violence and abuse. Founded in 1981 by a group of community volunteers, Acosta says La Casa has one of the one of the safest, largest and most modern emergency shelter facilities in the state of New Mexico. The shelter is open 365 nights per year with a trained  staff around the clock and with a total of 26 rooms for 80 people at any given time. The 24 hour service number is (575)526-9513 or (800)526-9513 with services both in English and Spanish.
