Support for Las Cruces PAL Boxing

Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra meets with Las Cruces PAL Boxing Coach Louie Burke and members, Janet Badillo, 14 years old, and Isaiah Ingram, 13 years old.

The Las Cruces chapter of the Police Athletic League (PAL) was established in 1972 to provide a place for low-income, troubled kids so they could get a chance to succeed and learn discipline through boxing. Although the focus is mainly on “at-risk” youth, the Las Cruces PAL Boxing Club accepts all kids and young adults free of charge. Coach Burke says it has been a very successful program.

The Mesilla Valley Mall Barnes & Noble will hold a Bookfair on Friday, August 11th and Saturday, August 12th to support “PAL.”  A percentage of your purchase can help Las Cruces PAL Boxing continue to work with our local youth. The Las Cruces PAL Boxing Gym is at 700 N. Solano Avenue in Las Cruces, and is open Monday through Friday from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. More information is available on their website – www.lascrucespalboxing.com and on Facebook at Las Cruces PAL Boxing.
