Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra meets with City of Las Cruces Branigan Cultural Center Curator of Education, Dr. Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Stone and Las Cruces Museum System Exhibits Manager, Jessica Johnson.

The last program of the “Latino Americans: 500 Years of History Series,” will be to gather ideas from community members about local history, culture and identity for a new long-term exhibit at the Branigan Cultural Center. Dr. Stone says that our history is held in our community with stories. She says the Branigan Cultural Center will train people to do oral histories in their own family by using the StoryCorp App to record oral histories, and then bridging that into a new project, a new exhibit on culture and history in Las Cruces and the Mesilla Valley.

You can share your story and images at the Branigan Cultural Center’s Oral History Weekend, on Saturday, May 21st from 10 am to 1 pm; and Sunday, May 22nd from 11 am to 2 pm at 501 North Main Street in Las Cruces.
