Out of the Shadows: The Women of Southern New Mexico

December 12, 2012 – Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, Emily Guerra bridges the community with New Mexico Historical Records Advisory Board member, Martha Shipman Andrews, who was recently appointed to NMHRAB, by Governor Susana Martinez. NMHRAB is a branch of the National Archives and Records Administration. It reviews grant proposals for projects that identify, preserve, increase accessibility to, and promotes the use of New Mexico’s Historical records and documents.

Andrews has been the New Mexico State University Library’s University Archivist since 2004 with a master’s degree in library and information science with a concentration in archival studies from the University of Pittsburgh.

Most recently Andrews edited two books, “Out of the Shadows: The Women of Southern New Mexico” (Rio Grande Books/NMSU Library, 2012) and “The Whole damned World: New Mexico Aggies at War, 1941-1945: World War II Correspondence of Dean Daniel B.
