NM State Police Investigate a Homicide in Mora County

  Mora County- On September 28, 2019, the New Mexico State Police Investigation Bureau was called to investigate a homicide in Mora, NM.

During the investigation State Police agents learned in the early morning hours of September 28, 2019, Jermain Jennings (27) of Rio Rancho and a fifty-year-old male subject also of Rio Rancho, had gone over to Alex Pacheco’s residence, located off 1838 Highway 94 in Mora, NM. During a dispute, Jennings and the male subject were shot by Pacheco.  After the shooting, Jennings and the male subject drove to an Allsup’s Convenience Store in Mora, NM where they were met by emergency medical services. Both Jennings and the male subject were transported to a hospital.

 

Jennings succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased.  The other male subject sustained a gunshot wound and details of his condition will not be released at this time. 

An arrest warrant was issued for Alex Pacheco (24) of Mora, NM on September 28, 2019.  Pacheco was arrested and taken into custody without incident and booked into the San Miguel County Detention Center.  Pacheco was charged with the following:

  • Murder in the 2nd Degree

 

  • Aggravated Battery (Great Bodily Harm)

 

  • Negligent Use of a Deadly Weapon (Near Dwelling or Building)
