The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department is adjusting existing hours of access to currently open pickleball and tennis courts beginning Monday, August 24 to 7 – 9:45 a.m. and 7 – 9:45 p.m., Monday–Saturday, and sessions will be available by reservation only, per suggestions from the player community.
“This summer has been unusually hot, and players wanted to be able to start earlier and end later in the day to take advantage of cooler temperatures,” said Sonya Delgado, Parks & Recreation Department Director. “Reservations will provide a fair opportunity for more community members to play since the number of courts is limited with the public health order still in place.”
Limited pickleball and tennis courts are presently open in accordance to the Parks & Recreation Department Covid-19 phase two reopening plan still in place, which follows the Governor’s emergency public order restrictions and safety guidelines of practicing social distancing, wearing face coverings in public settings except when eating, drinking, or swimming, and not gathering in large groups. The Parks and Recreation Department reminds community members to follow the safety rules in place to continue making progress towards reopening other public spaces.
Changes will affect courts located at Apodaca Park, 801 E. Madrid Ave.and Lions Park, 701 W Picacho Ave. Tennis courts located at Metro Verde Park, 6013 Atlas St., will not be affected.
