Las Cruces Groups Launch to support Local Businesses

Nov 20, 2020

LAS CRUCES – In an effort to support local businesses during the pandemic, several business focused organizations are collaborating to launch the website Friday, November 20th.

Featuring any local business in the Las Cruces area, serves as the main portal to the individual websites and social media of every listed business.  The site features the business logo, contact information, website and social media links, if a business is NM Safe Certified, a member of the chambers, and more.  Inclusion on the website is free to all businesses in the Las Cruces area.

Griselda Martinez, Director of the City of Las Cruces Economic Development Department, says “Having all of the organizations working together demonstrates a commitment to help our locally owned businesses during these incredibly challenging times.”  She added, “by combining our collective services and programs, we are working together to help where needed, either through social media training, access to federal and statewide relief programs, and providing connections with experts who can help our local businesses with whatever they need.”

The stay at home orders and social distancing have significantly reduced in-person traffic at our local businesses.  But, as Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Debbi Moore says, there are other ways to reach customers.  “We are on our computers and phones a whole lot more now because of staying at home.  By using as a way to promote shopping at local businesses, we will be able to reach the community, through our respective outlets, to expand the awareness for those businesses and keep customers informed.”

Working collaboratively, the City of Las Cruces Economic Development Department, the Las Cruces Green Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce, WESST, the Small Business Development Center, the Arrowhead Center, and the LiftFund, will heavily promote the website through their respective networks, social media, and email lists.

“Free advertising during the pandemic is one of the many ways we can help our local businesses,” says Carrie Hamblen, CEO/President of the Las Cruces Green Chamber of Commerce.  “Since we are on social media much more right now, increasing your visibility and activity is an effective way of informing your customers what you are doing to ensure everyone is safe, what your specials are, how you are providing curbside and takeout services, and connecting with your followers when you may not be able to do that in person.”

Businesses can submit their information by going to and clicking on the “Submit your Business” in the top right corner.  Important resources that can help businesses can also be found on the website.  This service is free to any business or nonprofit in the Las Cruces area.
