Fatal Hit-And-Run Outside Of Las Cruces; Police Searching For Driver

State Police are looking for the driver of a Chevy S-10

Dona Ana County, NM - On Thursday at approximately 2:09 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal hit and run crash at 10581 Las Alturas Street in Vado, New Mexico. 

The initial investigation shows a black 2012 Harley Davidson was traveling north on Las Alturas Street. The driver of a tan 1998 Chevrolet S-10 truck was traveling south on Las Alturas, and for reason unknown turned left striking the Harley Davidson head-on. The driver of Chevrolet S-10 fled the scene. New Mexico State Police later located the Chevrolet S-10 abandoned at a residence in Mesquite, New Mexico.

The driver of the Harley Davidson, Guy Hanslin (54) of Mesquite, NM succumbed to fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator.

It is unknown if alcohol was a contributing factor to the crash.  The New Mexico State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit was been called into investigate the crash.
