Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office responded to a structure fire in the 400 block of Hermosa Dr. at approximately 0545 hours this morning. Police and fire units arrived to a fully engulfed mobile home. Shortly after the fire had been contained, a firefighter observed what appeared to be human remains within the demolished mobile home. Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office detectives were called to the scene to conduct an investigation. An autopsy will be conducted on the human remains found within the demolished structure.
At this time, the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office will not release the name of the deceased pending a positive identification by the Office of Medical Investigators after the autopsy has been completed. No foul play is suspected at this time. The investigation is still ongoing.
