District Vaccination Clinic Scheduled

LAS CRUCES - Las Cruces Public Schools has received approval from the New Mexico Department of Health to coordinate COVID-19 vaccinations for children between 12 and 15 years of age.

The specific vaccine approved for that age group is the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) concur that the vaccine may prevent serious or life-threatening disease and that the known and potential benefits of the product outweigh the known and potential risks of the product.

Through a partnership with the New Mexico Department of Health and the Office of Emergency Management, district officials will host a vaccination clinic in the auxiliary gym at Las Cruces High School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19. The auxiliary gym can be accessed through the north parking lot off Boutz Road. The clinic is open to all qualified students, staff and their families on a first come, first served basis. Anyone who received a first dose of vaccine on April 28 is eligible to receive their second dose on Wednesday and should have received a text notification with additional instructions.

To register for an appointment, go to www.vaccinenm.org and use the code LCPSMID. Anyone under 18 years of age must bring a signed parental consent form with them to the vaccination clinic if they are not accompanied by a parent or guardian. Forms are available for download at www.lcps.net or students can also pick one up from their school nurse.
