In Depth: Martinez Announces Appointments to Boards and Commissions

  Today, Governor Susana Martinez announced appointments to the Animal Sheltering Services Board, the Board of Examiners for Architects, the Board of Body Art Practitioners, the Children’s Trust Fund Board of Trustees, the Chiropractic Board, the State Commission on Community Volunteerism, the Construction Industries Commission, the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange, the Board of Directors of the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the Juvenile Public Safety Advisory Board, the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy Board, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, the Military Base Planning Commission, the Mining Safety Board, the Museum Board of Regents, the Personnel Board, the Prescription Drug Misuse and Overdose Prevention and Pain Management Advisory Council, the Board of Social Work Examiners, the Spaceport Authority, the Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensing Practices Board, and the Tourism Commission.

Misha Goodman of Albuquerque has been appointed to the Animal Sheltering Services Board. Goodman is the director of Bernalillo County Animal Care Services. She previously worked as the director of Iowa City Animal Services.

Robert Calvani of Albuquerque has been reappointed to the Board of Examiners for Architects. Calvani is the principal-in-charge at NCA Architects, LLC and has more than 30 years of experience in architecture. He holds a Master of Architecture from the University of California in Los Angeles, California.

Benjamin Shaw of Albuquerque has been appointed to the Board of Body Art Practitioners. Shaw is the co-owner of Archetype Dermigraphic Studio/Gallery LLC. He was previously a tattoo artist at Red Light Tattoo.

Billy Pulliam of Albuquerque has been appointed to the Board of Body Art Practitioners. Pulliam is an owner and artist at Fingers Body Piercing. He was previously a body artist at Sachs Body Modification.

Bridget Schneider of Albuquerque has been appointed to the Children’s Trust Fund Board of Trustees. Schneider is a social worker for the Pediatric Clinic at University of New Mexico Hospital. She was previously a social worker for Adult Medicine at UNMH. Schneider holds a Master of Science from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas.

Brad Fackrell has been appointed to the Chiropractic Board. Fackrell operates his own chiropractic practice, Straight Chiropractic. He holds a Doctor of Chiropractic from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Overland Park, Kansas.

Michael Pendleton has been appointed to the Chiropractic Board. Pendleton is the owner of a private chiropractic practice. He was previously a staff physician at the Physical Medical Institute. Pendleton holds a Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.

Dustin Chavez has been appointed to the State Commission on Community Volunteerism. Chavez is the president of the Associated Students of New Mexico State University. He is a student at NMSU in Las Cruces, where he is a candidate for Bachelor of Accountancy and Bachelor of Business Administration.

Glenn Fellows of Los Ranchos has been appointed to the Construction Industries Commission. Fellows is the principal emeritus for SMPC Architects. He has worked for architecture and construction firms since 1970 and is a veteran of the United States Navy Reserve. Fellows holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Lisa Farrell Lujan of Albuquerque has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange. Lujan is the health plan president of Presbyterian Healthcare Services. She was previously the vice president of Integrated Care Solutions at Presbyterian. Lujan holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.

Yvett Vazquez-Elias of Albuquerque has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Hispanic Cultural Center of New Mexico. She is a commercial real estate development and commercial business operations professional. Vazquez-Elias holds a Master of Arts from San Diego State University in San Diego, California.

Katie Lund of Ruidoso has been appointed to the Juvenile Public Safety Advisory Board. Lund is a magistrate judge in Lincoln County. She was previously a district supervisor at the New Mexico Corrections Department. Lund holds a Master of Criminal Justice from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.

Elisabeth Miller of Las Cruces has been appointed to the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy Board. Miller is a partner at Jan Enterprises. She was previously a Foreign Service officer for the United States Department of State. Miller holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California.

Kelly Burnham of Las Cruces has been appointed to the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy Board. She is a retired senior litigation counsel for the District of New Mexico United States Attorney’s Office. Burnham holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Donald Sawyer Jr. of Clovis has been appointed to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission. Sawyer is a Veterans Affairs benefits advisor and a marriage and family mediator. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force. Sawyer holds a Bachelor of Science from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales.

Robert “Ed” Brabson of Alamogordo has been reappointed to the Military Base Planning Commission. Brabson is the president of Brabson LLC and the co-owner of Alamogordo Flower Company. He holds a Management Certification from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Kiel Hoffman of Las Cruces has been reappointed to the Military Base Planning Commission. Hoffman is the president of Pioneer Bank Las Cruces. He is a veteran of the United States Army. He holds a Bachelor of Business and Accounting from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Sherman McCorkle of Albuquerque has been reappointed to the Military Base Planning Commission. McCorkle is the Chairman, CEO, and co-founder of Sandia Science & Technology Park Development Corporation and is the lead independent director of EMCORE Corporation. He is a graduate of the Colorado Graduate School of Banking at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.

William Burt of Alamogordo has been reappointed to the Military Base Planning Commission. Burt represents Senate District 33 in the New Mexico State Senate.

William Connor of Mesilla Park has been reappointed to the Military Base Planning Commission. Connor is the customer contact manager at El Paso Electric Company. He holds a Master of Business Administration from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.

Jimmie Simpson of Loving has been reappointed to the Mining Safety Board. Simpson is senior maintenance staff at Mosaic Potash Carlsbad. He is also a military veteran.

Randy Logsdon of Carlsbad has been reappointed to the Mining Safety Board. Logsdon is the safety manager and senior safety advisor at Intrepid Potash-New Mexico. Previously, he was the safety manager at the National Cement Company of California. Logsdon holds a Master of Science from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.

John Paul Taylor of Mesilla has been reappointed to the Museum Board of Regents. Taylor is a former member of the New Mexico House of Representatives and former associate superintendent for instruction for Las Cruces Public Schools. He holds a Master of Arts from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.

Jerry Manzagol of Santa Fe has been appointed to the Personnel Board. Manzagol previously served as superintendent of the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department. He has also served as city manager for the City of Santa Fe. He holds a Master of Arts from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Cheranne McCracken of Albuquerque has been appointed to the Prescription Drug Misuse and Overdose Prevention and Pain Management Advisory Council. McCracken is the state drug inspector for the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Jason Flores of Rio Rancho has been appointed to the Prescription Drug Misuse and Overdose Prevention and Pain Management Advisory Council. Flores is director of dental anesthesiology at University of New Mexico Dental Services. He holds a Doctor of Dental Anesthesiology from the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston, Texas.

Roxroy Reid of Edgewood has been appointed to the Board of Social Work Examiners. Reid is a medical social worker at Presbyterian Hospitals. He was previously a social work consultant for Health South Rehabilitation and Home Health. Reid holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Rebecca Latham of Albuquerque has been appointed to the Spaceport Authority. Latham is the cabinet secretary for the New Mexico Tourism Department. Latham holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida.

Donald Thurn of Albuquerque has been appointed to the Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensing Practices Board. Thurn is a retired pastor and chaplain. He holds a Master of Divinity from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.

Belia Alvarez of Las Cruces has been appointed to the Tourism Commission. Alvarez is the regional general manager of Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces and Hilton Garden Inn.
