WNMU Permanent Collection Exhibit

WNMU Permanent Collection Exhibit

Pen, Pencil, and Print consists of works of art from the WNMU Permanent Art Collection, started by Expressive Arts faculty member John Battenberg in 1960, and managed by Cecil Howard during the 30 years he was with WNMU as Expressive Arts faculty and Gallery Manager. The university has recently undertaken the project of updating and archiving the collection.

This exhibition will showcase original works on paper such as lithograph prints, pen and ink, and pencil drawings, and is but a small sampling of the total WNMU collection, which includes local, national, and international artists such as Harry Benjamin, John Battenberg, Woodford Johnson, Diana Ingalls Leyba and heavyweights such as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Francisco Goya. Artists in this exhibit are collected by universities, museums, and organizations such as the National Gallery of Art.

Many of the works of art have only recently been rediscovered and have not been seen for decades.
