Opening Reception: Dina D'Argo: Foundlings
Opening Reception: Dina D'Argo: Foundlings
Rio Grande Fine Art presents “Foundlings”, a new series of genre-defying artwork by visionary painter Dina D'Argo
Dina D’Argo combines abstract with realism, traditional painting techniques with three-dimensional forms, in a distinctive ethereal style infused with magic yet fully grounded in nature.
“What does it mean to be lost? To be found?” D'Argo asks in this sensitive, yet powerful collection of paintings.
“Foundlings” explores our journey to find true self, and the kindred spirits we meet along the way who remind us of our eternal belonging. Images painted on canvas and wood, many adorned with carefully constructed treasures made of recycled glass, horsehair, feathers, and other ephemera, hint at impermanence and the effects of the passing of time.
Dina finds herself in Southern New Mexico after a long creative journey from the beaches of California via Hawaii, then Tennessee. While her work has been shown from coast to coast, and is held in public and private collections worldwide, her recent move to Las Cruces feels like home. Established framing business Picture Frame Outlet recently expanded its gallery side, Rio Grande Fine Art, adding D’Argo to their roster of accomplished artists including well-known landscape photographer Mike Groves and surrealist painter Victor Whitmill.
“Foundlings” opens with a reception Saturday October 26 from noon to 4:00 at Rio Grande Fine Art/Picture frame Outlet, 382 S. Walnut St, Las Cruces
